Sweet has boasted a fifth-place average finish and his worst finish, so far, is 16th at the season opening race. CONCORD, NC (Oct. 3, 2022) – Fireworks will light the sky while three drivers lift their championship trophies with pride at the conclusion of the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway sits across a highway from Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, right next to the Morrison Motor Car Museum (for those who love all things cars) and just a 20-minute drive northeast of sparkling downtown Charlotte. Like the speedway itself, The Dirt Track is referred to as America's Home for Racing. The clay oval track covers four-tenths of a mile and can seat close to 14,000 (usually highly enthusiastic) fans at capacity. In men's mountain biking, it's been the two most recent Olympic champions grabbing most of the titles since the Tokyo Games.

Every driver who pre-registers, regardless of division, will receive one additional entry into the drawing for a brand-new Chevy Performance 604 Crate engine at Saturday’s drivers meeting. The Driver Appreciation Pit Party also returns to the schedule on Friday night after racing concludes, featuring music and a bonfire to complete the evening. CONCORD, NC– The seventh annual World Short Track Championship goes green at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Oct. 27-29, now boasting a record 10 divisions of racing over three days. A 4/10 mile dirt track located across the street from its big sister – the Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Dirt Track at Charlotte was built in 2000 and hosts many weekly dirt series throughout the year. The World of Outlaws dirt series have held their finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte as well.

These Street Stock-like cars, typically found racing around the weekly tracks of the Southeast, are abundant in numbers and are expected to bring several new competitors to the event. Since becoming the first U.S. woman to win an Olympic gold medal in track cycling, Jennifer Valente has asserted herself as the consistent favorite in women's onium. After entering the last Olympics as the two-time reigning Tour de France champion, Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar earned bronze for the men's road race in Tokyo. Since then, Pogacar has finished second behind Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard in back-to-back Tour de France events. However, Vingegaard's participation in Paris is uncertain, in part because he broke his collarbone and several ribs in a crash while racing in April.

Three more races are left for the Late Models to set the stage for their all-out championship brawl at Charlotte. World of Outlaws Late Models – In his fourth full-time season with the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models, Dennis Erb Jr. is nearing his first Series championship. While Sweet has the fourth most wins this season of all drivers, he and his Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts #49 team have been the masters of consistency this year.

American Chloe Dygert made her return to the Road Cycling World Championships in August 2023 — three years after she suffered an injury that nearly ended her career — and won the world title in the women's time trial. Dygert had also won the time trial title in 2019 but crashed out while leading in 2020, lacerating her left leg and breaking a wrist in the process. She then missed the subsequent world championships in 2021 and 2022 due to follow-up surgeries. Dygert, who competes in track cycling as well, also won gold in the non-Olympic individual pursuit event at the 2023 Track Cycling World Championships. The revamped event format unveiled last year returns for 2022, featuring Championship Qualifier Features on Thursday night for the DIRTcar Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds and Pro Stocks. Then, Heat Races, Last Chance Showdowns and the first round of Hornet Features completes Friday night’s program, while the remaining Last Chance races and Features for all divisions closes out the event on Saturday night.

CONCORD, NC – When the fireworks fade and the champions lower their trophies Saturday night at the World of Outlaws World Finals, the year-end celebrations kick off with the special World of Outlaws Champions Celebration at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Despite taking silver behind Charlotte Worthington at the last Olympics, American Hannah Roberts has remained the rider to beat in women's BMX freestyle after winning two more world titles in 2022 and 2023. The final race of the iRacing World Championship series returns to the virtual Dirt Track at Charlotte. Then, three champions will be crowned on Saturday, Nov. 5, with a massive night of action. Points accumulated from the previous nights will determine the Heat Race lineups for each Series. After competing for $15,000-to-win races during the weekday races, both World of Outlaws series will battle for $25,000-to-win in Saturday’s Feature. The Super DIRTcar Series will compete for $10,000 paydays during the week and $15,000 in the finale. And while the Super DIRTcar Series may not have on track action, its drivers will line the front stretch for a two-hour Fan Fest (2 to 4pm ET) before racing action, allowing fans to get up close to their favorite drivers and cars. World of Outlaws fans will have the same opportunity the next two days with a Fan Fest (from 2 to 4pm ET each night) for the Sprint Car drivers on Thursday and one for the Late Model drivers on Friday.

The World of Outlaws World Finals is the championship event for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars, the World of Outlaws Case Construction Equipment Late Models and, the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds. What makes the event so special is that the greatest superstars in dirt racing are racing on the same track on the same nights. The Dirt Track proudly hosts a variety of rowdy events that thrill entertainment-seekers who like things loud, adrenaline-filled, and (of course) dirty. Notably, The Dirt Track hosts the Can-Am World Finals, a once-a-year championship event for World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars, World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Models and Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds.

However, if Sweet slips and allows Gravel to catch him before World Finals, the championship picture could look vastly different. Sweet has yet to win at The Dirt Track at Charlotte while the 4/10-mile track is one of Gravel’s best. Thursday, Nov. 3, will see Feature action for the World of Outlaws Late Models and Super DIRTcar Series, while Friday, Nov. 5, will host Features for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and Super DIRTcar Series. To the excitement of many of its regular attendees, Charlotte Motor Speedway announced it was building a complementary dirt track in 1999, and The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway was completed in May of the following year. The event will also determine the champions for the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Pro Stock Series. Great Britain's Tom Pidcock, the Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, won the most recent world title in 2023, while Switzerland's Nino Schurter, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist, won the two prior world titles. On the men's side, Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Logan Martin has continued to perform consistently well. The Australian has finished on the podium every time he's competed in a BMX park contest at X Games since the last Olympics. (As a bonus, he's also been on the podium every time he's competed in the non-Olympic discipline of BMX dirt at X Games since then as well.) In the world rankings for BMX park, Logan is currently ranked No. 2 behind only 22-year-old Kieran Reilly of Great Britain. Felicia Stancil, who finished fourth in Tokyo, won the 2022 world title, and Alise Willoughby, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist, placed third at 2023 Worlds. SRI Performance has also renewed its partnership with the event, joining as title sponsor to complete the formation of the SRI Performance Thunder Bomber division.

Hundreds of the best short track drivers from across the country will gather to give fans three epic nights of racing with no lack of variety in cars. Charlotte Motor Speedway's philosophy is to put "Fans First" and create memories that last a lifetime for all who pass through the gates. The World of Outlaws World Finals has expanded to four days of on track action this year, Nov. 2-5, adding to the fan experience and giving drivers another chance to gain points toward their championship dreams – and earn more money with a more than $600,000 overall purse.

The Dirt Track has also brought Monster Trucks and motorcycling stars from AMA Pro Flat Track to North Carolina with a championship Monster Truck spectacular gracing the track annually. The expanded show will kick off with qualifying on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, followed by three consecutive nights of action-packed feature racing, culminating in the crowing of season champions for all three divisions. SCHEDULEThe event commences Tuesday, Nov. 2, with the Hauler Load-In Parade and PRN Kick-off Party, featuring driver interviews, race cars and live music. Then, Wednesday, Nov. 3, will mark the first day of on-track action for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and World of Outlaws Late Models. With wins at the 2021 and 2023 World Championships, Great Britain's Bethany Shriever has proven that her gold medal in women's BMX racing at the Tokyo Olympics — she narrowly upset two-time defending Olympic champion Mariana Pajon in the final — was no fluke.

When Dr. Baker is unable to save a patient, he feels it was due to his incompetence and resigns as Walnut Grove's doctor. While he tries his hand at farming, a new physician, Dr. Logan, accepts a call to replace him. However, Dr. Logan proves to be ill-tempered and has no compassion for his patients, prompting Charles to go all out to convince Dr. Baker that he really is a good doctor and that the people of Hero Township need him. When heavy rains make it impossible to plant their crops, the Ingalls and Edwards families head west to pan for gold.

The ending theme music, also written by Rose, originally appeared as a piece of incidental music in a later-season episode of Michael Landon's previous long-running series, Bonanza. Interior shots were filmed at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, while exteriors were largely filmed at the nearby Big Sky Ranch in Simi Valley, where the town of Walnut Grove had been constructed. Many other filming locations were also used during the course of the series, including Old Tucson Studios and Sonora, California. Many of the exterior shots of Walnut Grove and the other Minnesota towns shown in the series include noticeable mountainous terrain in the background scenery.

Laura and Mary come back up, but Ellen becomes trapped under the surface; she drowns as a result. After the funeral, Ellen's grief-stricken mother blames Laura for the tragedy and rebuffs the efforts of several people to cheer her up. When Laura pays a visit to Mrs. Taylor, she tricks Laura and traps her in the basement, because in her grief she deliriously imagines that Laura is her daughter Ellen.

They do not include the special features present on the earlier non-remastered releases, but rather seasons 1 through 6 each contain a roughly 15 minute segment of a special called "The Little House Phenomenon". Seasons 8 & 9 contain the three post-series movie specials as extras, with "Look Back to Yesterday" and "The Last Farewell" appearing on Season 8, and "Bless All The Dear Children" appearing on Season 9. None of the available releases of the series contain "The Little House Years", which was a three-hour Thanksgiving special aired during Season 6 that largely consisted of flashback clips.

The fourth book in the series, On the Banks of Plum Creek, takes place from 1875 to 1877. Laura's age is still not accurately portrayed in relation to actual events. During the course of the story, Laura is between the ages of seven and nine years old. There are multiple DVD sets which are noticeably different from one another.

In the book, Laura herself turns five years old, when the real-life author had only been three during the events of the book. Laura attends school with her younger sister, Carrie until the weather becomes too severe to permit them to walk to and from the school building. The frequent blizzards prevent supply trains from getting through, and food and fuel become scarce and expensive. Eventually, the railroad company suspends all efforts to dig out the trains, leaving the town stranded. For weeks, the Ingallses subsist on potatoes and coarse brown bread, using twisted hay for fuel.

Losing and finding Laura

Unable to summon help, she is about to succumb to her illness, but she is inspired by a passage in her Bible to perform a painful procedure, which later impresses even Doc Baker. The majority of the episodes run approximately 50 minutes (not counting commercials, they have since been edited for syndication to accommodate more commercial time). Expanded episodes (90 minutes to 2 hours) have been indicated as such; many of these may not currently be shown in some rerun markets due to their length. The Ingalls family leaves the little house in the Big Woods and heads West.

The day Pa leaves, however, their beloved bulldog Jack is found dead, which saddens Laura greatly. In actuality, the dog upon whom Jack was based was no longer with the family at this point, but the author inserted his death here to serve as a transition between her childhood and her adolescence. Laura also begins to play a more mature role in the family due to Mary's blindness—Pa instructs Laura to "be Mary's eyes" and to assist her in daily life as she learns to cope with her disability. The story begins when the family is about to leave Plum Creek, shortly after the family has recovered from the scarlet fever which caused Mary to become blind.

The show features guests and conversations regarding life lessons learned from the iconic TV show, which lasted nine seasons. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, we asked this “prairie head” to run down his definitive 10 episodes. Comedian Ray Ellin remembers watching Little House on the Prairie from an early age and being captivated by the Ingalls family adventures in Walnut Grove. His love of the American western drama only grew stronger as a teenager into adulthood when the series landed in syndication. After her death, an original draft of The First Four Years was published in 1971.

However, Nellie does not properly prepare for the race, so the stage is set for a close finish. Nellie has been mistreating Bunny, who was Laura's horse until she sold it to Mr. Oleson (in "Christmas at Plum Creek"). When Nellie falls off the horse and appears to be seriously injured, Mrs. Oleson blames Laura and wants Bunny to be killed, so Laura takes Bunny and hides her. Nellie exploits Laura's guilty feelings, but then Laura makes a discovery which leads to a comeuppance for Nellie, and Bunny becomes Laura's horse again. Charles and the girls go on a camping trip, with Caroline planning to join them later. Previously, Caroline had scratched her leg on a piece of baling wire, and the minor scratch turns into a serious infection.

Doc Baker hires a highly qualified doctor named Caleb Ledoux, but is disconcerted to discover that he is black. Despite a friendly welcome from the Ingalls, other citizens are indifferent or openly hostile, while Doc Baker gives his new assistant only menial tasks.

The pilot, which first aired on March 30, 1974, was based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's third Little House book, Little House on the Prairie. The rest of the regular series premiered on the NBC network on September 11, 1974, and last aired on May 10, 1982. The episode sees Todd Bridges of future Diff’rent Strokes fame guest star as Solomon Henry, an 11-year-old who is the first member of the family not born into slavery.

Reverend Alden gets badly hurt while on his way to collect donations for a struggling town in another part of his parish. As they search for her, the mystery rapist (revealed to be Hartwig) attacks both Sylvia and Albert, then is shot down by Mr. Webb. During the confrontation, Sylvia suffers a bad fall, and she later dies in the arms of a distraught, heartbroken Albert.

With friend Nicole Haase, she co-founded Modern Prairie, a lifestyle brand that sells prairie inspired clothes (even bonnets), pie carriers and beautiful quilts and linens. The reaction of bigoted Mrs. Oleson (Katherine MacGregor) is a treat when Charles tells her that Solomon is his son from a previous marriage….Every few minutes your heart is pulled in another direction. Season 6 (1979–

In contrast, Laura does not truly come to grips with Albert's possible imminent death until late in the story, and wishes that he rest in bed rather than exhaust himself. Albert soon falls in love with a long-time friend called Michele Pierson, and Charles starts a cooperative with the local farmers in order to compete with the large farms. Finally, Albert, Laura, Michele, Miss Plum and the local school children make their annual climb to 'the keepsake tree' at the top of Harper's Bluff, where Laura and Albert place their own keepsake in the box hidden there. The movie ends with Miss Plum and the children joining hands in a circle around Laura and Albert, who join their own hands and raise them high, both in celebration and as a symbol of their bond. The family is on the move again in the next book in the series, On the Banks of Plum Creek.

The Long Winter

Fans were left shocked by Jason's transformation and replied to the latest photo which is going viral on X, formerly Twitter. That after a divorce or even just being an empty nester, they wonder where that spunky girl is. It was also a time when she started accepting that growing older was just part of life, not something to fight. And that maybe being defined by strangers as the role you played for a very specific period of your life isn’t so bad. She acted in the 1983 TV movie  “Choices of the Heart,” voiced Batgirl, played Ma in the traveling musical adaptation of “Little House” and was president of the Screen Actors Guild. She competed on ABC's “Dancing with the Stars” in 2012, and tried so hard to continue to look like she thought she should.

The girls are left alone, and they spend their days and nights boarding and feeding all the pioneers passing through. They charge 25 cents for dinner and boarding, starting a savings account toward sending Mary to the School for the Blind in Vinton, Iowa, which Mary begins to attend later in the series. As winter approaches and the railroad workers head back East, the Ingallses wonder where they might stay for the winter. As luck would have it, the county surveyor needs a house sitter while he is East for the winter, and Pa signs up. It is a winter of luxury for the Ingalls family as they are given all the provisions they need in the large, comfortable house. They spend a cozy winter with their new friends, Mr. and Mrs. Boast, and both families look forward to starting their new claims in the spring.

Mary accidentally sets the barn on fire while cramming for an important school competition. Substitute-teacher Caroline deals with a boy (Dirk Blocker) ridiculed for his limited literacy. A charismatic preacher (James Olson) entices residents from the Rev. Alden's teachings.

Albert struggles with feelings of guilt, while Jonathan Garvey starts to drink alcohol, blaming God for his wife's death. Later, a gift from Albert to Mary awakens her memory of the fire and the loss of her baby, and her screams frighten Albert into running away. Albert eventually seeks out his estranged father Jeremy, only to stumble upon a freshly-dug grave at his homestead and realize Jeremy has just died, and he has nowhere else to go now. Charles and Jonathan set out to discover the truth about the fire and to track down Albert, and it is Jonathan who convinces Albert that it wasn't his fault that the two had died. Adam returns from New York City to announce that his father has offered to finance the rebuilding of the school, and has insisted that it be named "The Alice Garvey and Adam Kendall Jr. School for The Blind".

But she is lifted by the energy and eagerness that still sometimes surprises her. A 10-year-old girl dressed in a long blue floral dress with a white apron and bonnet waits in line with a small notebook for an autograph. Wearing jeans and a black ’90s inspired black T-shirt with three images of Charles Ingalls that reads "PA," she says she watched “Little House” every week growing up. She shared the show with her five kids, but confesses only her three daughters enjoyed it. They paid $45 a day or $200 as a VIP (they did receive a turkey and mashed potato lunch and a commemorative poster) for access to meet and greets and panels. So this is how I find myself now, here with Gilbert, nearly 50 years after “Little House” premiered, standing in front of a replica of the set of the little house, which was a replica of the real house in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, in the 1800s.

In the video, Spacey addressed the audience as Underwood, obliquely referred to the sexual assault allegations, and hinted that his character may not be dead. Shortly after being sworn into his second term, the committee that was investigating Underwood's declaration of war is revived to investigate Underwood, an act by Congressman Alex Romero after being snubbed in Underwood's inaugural address. Claire states her intention to run for a congressional race in Texas. During the 2016 State of the Union address, Underwood endorses another candidate, preventing Claire from announcing her candidacy. Claire, in retaliation, finds a photo of Underwood's father with a KKK klansman, costing him the South Carolina primary. Claire tells Underwood she wants to be his running mate or she will announce publicly that they are getting a divorce.

As Barnes and her team continue to dig for information, she appears to doubt her own suspicions and brings up details that stand in the way of Underwood's involvement. She swiftly leaves the meeting and expresses a desire to be alone, or more importantly, isolate herself from Skorsky and Goodwin. With the help of Skorsky and Lucas Goodwin, Barnes tries to uncover the truth behind the death of Peter Russo. While Russo's death was officially ruled a suicide, the team of journalists correctly suspected that the Congressman's death involved foul play and that Underwood was involved. Underwood was passed over for an appointment as United States Secretary of State even though he had been promised the position after ensuring the election of Walker as President, leading to Underwood secretly plotting against him.

He also speaks about his father's cowardice, weak personality and drunken behavior. Underwood was from Gaffney, South Carolina, and had an undistinguished background. He graduated from The Sentinel in 1980 and; subsequently, Harvard Law School in 1984, and married Claire in 1987. House of Representatives in 1990 as a Democratic representative for the 5th Congressional District of South Carolina, being sworn in during January 1991. He won another 11 consecutive elections, winning his final term in 2012.

Presidency (2014 -

Just don’t get stuck in a room with Donald Blythe during a quarantine. On March 17, 2016, Frank Underwood, campaigning for the Democratic nomination in 2016, attended Hammond University in Washington D.C. During the speech, he mentioned his intent to greet a crowd of protestors, saying diverse ideas make people wiser. Doug StamperIt seems totally ludicrous that Doug would kill Frank, his soul mate/father figure/patron saint/only reason for living, but stalkers are known to kill the objects of their obsessions.

That’s why we suggest snapping a pic of the home of The Washington Post, deep in the heart of the city. There are tours available of the paper’s plant, but they’re reserved for students from the local area. As President, Underwood initiated the America Works program, which lasted for several months until it was defunded by Congress. Underwood remained in the hospital for nine days, and was released on March 26, where he resumed all the duties of the presidency. In their ruthless rise to power, Frank and Claire battle threats past and present, and form new alliances while old ones succumb to betrayal.

Season 1

Doug finds Rachel living under a false identity in New Mexico, drives her into the desert, and eventually kills her. If Frank were to murder Claire there’s almost no way he would have been able to get away with it, and would thus would be remembered almost entirely for having done that. The idea here throughout the season is that Doug Stamper is obsessed with protecting Frank’s reputation above all else.

Underwood also negotiated with Russian President Viktor Petrov to relinquish his hold on the Jordan Valley, by negotiating Claire's resignation as U.N. Underwood has also passed a Gun Control Bill, which was inspired after his assassination attempt in March 2016. Underwood and Claire ran against Republican nominee Will Conway and his running mate Ted Brockhart in the 2016 presidential election.

Although neither candidate received a majority of electoral votes, Underwood would go on to win new elections in Ohio, which won him the election, becoming the first Democrat to lose the popular vote but win the electoral college. Nine weeks after the unresolved election, the Twelfth Amendment is invoked, with the vote being put up to members of Congress. During a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus, cracks begin to appear in Conway's façade as he loses his cool.

'House of Cards' Says Time's Up as Final Season Exposes Fears About Women in Power

Tom also meets with Walker, convincing him to help by appealing to his anger for being forced to resign. Remy Danton and Jackie Sharp also decide to go on the record against Frank to lend credibility to the story. An American family is kidnapped in Tennessee by two supporters of a radical Islamist group called the Islamic Caliphate Organization (ICO), who agree to negotiate only with the ambitious Republican nominee, Governor Will Conway.

Once they arrive at the meeting though Underwood declares that does not plan to compromise. He provokes Spinella into punching him and Underwood makes him end the strike or he will file charges. Taking the young representative under his wing, Underwood seemingly grooms Peter Russo for Governor of Pennsylvania. He asks Russo to give him one month of sobriety, not for Underwood, but himself. While it does appear that Underwood truly wishes for Peter Russo to succeed, he knows his true plan will not come to fruition if he actually wins. Underwood and the campaign team decide to portray him as a phoenix, in some respects; an alcoholic who was once at the very bottom of his life, now arisen from the ashes, via his children's and God's love.

At a public park, Barnes meets Underwood and is coerced to drop her suspicions idiocy and start anew, stating that her connection to a powerful figure would be increasingly valuable to her own gain. When she asks Underwood about Russo being found on the passenger side, he quickly deflects her suspicions. Underwood admits to covering up Russo's DUI, but claims that the cover-up is the extent of his involvement and that his death was without question a suicide. By the end of their meeting, the embattled journalist is clearly leaning toward teaming with Underwood again due to the fact that he is now in a much more powerful position and that her investigation is an uphill battle.

Over the course of the season, it’s explained to the public that Frank died in bed, presumably of natural causes. But, as Claire explains in one of her many fourth-wall breaks, a man like Francis doesn’t just die. Claire knows that he’s been killed by someone, but she’s not sure by whom. There are plenty of options, from the Russians, to the power-hungry Shepherd siblings (played by Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane). But in the end—literally, in the last seven minutes of the finale, it’s revealed this his killer was none other than Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), Frank’s former right-hand man.

Presidency of Frank Underwood Fandom

house of cards frank underwood

Betrayed by the White House, Congressman Frank Underwood embarks on a ruthless rise to power. In my case, my best friend Jay Carson, who I went to college with, I sort of based the movie Ides of March and the play Farragut North on him — [he's] this wunderkind political operative. By the age of 26, he was Howard Dean's national spokesman for the '04 race. And two years before that at the ripe old age of 24, he had been [Tom] Daschle's press secretary when Daschle was Senate Majority Leader. And, through him, I got a bit of a bird's eye view, so I had my in-the-trenches perspective, but through Jay I could climb up the mountain a bit and peek at the summit. Beau Willimon also wrote the political drama Farragut North, which he, George Clooney and Grant Heslov adapted into the film The Ides of March.

Planet Money

With the special election in chaos, Underwood convinces the Vice President to step down and run for his old position of governor – leaving the Vice Presidency open to Underwood, as was his plan all along. Underwood is introduced to Missouri billionaire Raymond Tusk, Walker's friend and advisor. Underwood counter-proposes to Tusk that they work together to fulfill both their interests, which Tusk accepts.

'House of Cards': Robin Wright on Final Season's "Vulnerability and Insecurities"

Shortly after the end of his presidency, Underwood was interested in starting a foundation and turned toward Bill Shepherd and Annette Shepherd. News breaks that Cathy will testify in front of the Declaration of War committee. Hammerschimdt is given a "birthday card" with a computer chip in it from an unknown source. Underwood is informed that Garrett Walker will be testifying before the committee. Though he is expected to plead the fifth, tension arises when Underwood and Walker meet before he testifies. Walker testifies and breaks his silence, revealing that Underwood was the one who got Walker involved in the China/money dealings.

Relationships

The Underwoods convince Doug to take the fall for killing Zoe, and the leaker is revealed to be Frank himself. The leaks are revealed to be part of Frank's master plan to resign the presidency to Claire, believing his thirst for power can be better achieved in the private sector, working alongside his wife's presidency. Frank, concerned about Secretary Durant's intention to testify at the impeachment hearing, pushes her down a short flight of stairs upon accepting her resignation, hospitalizing her.

Underwood goes to the Jordan valley to meet with Petrov months later, and Petrov agrees to relinquish control of the Jordan Valley if Claire steps down as ambassador to the United Nations. Claire ultimately steps down, though this strains the relationship between Claire and Underwood. Despite urging from Claire to read a forged apology, Corrigan hung himself in his jail cell, prompting Claire to publicly shame Petrov. Either way, after the debate Underwood takes charge and garners support when a child dies during school hours. He arranged a meeting with Spinella to come to a compromise which Underwood had promised.

Done mainly through back channels with Democratic governors, this is officially done in the name of safety, but in practice disenfranchises rural Republican voters. To keep the strategy of fear going, Doug blackmails hacker Aidan Macallan into launching a massive cyberattack on the NSA, slowing down Internet traffic and wiping out hundreds of thousands of files. On Election Day, the result hinges on Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Ohio. Underwood's political machine stages a terrorist attack in Knoxville, Tennessee, which is pinned on a local suspected ICO sympathizer.

Underwood was elected at the age of 25 to the South Carolina State Senate as one of the youngest members in the state's legislative history after graduating from Harvard in 1984. He was re-elected to the state senate at 29 in 1988 for his second, and last, term as a State Senator. We’ve seen Frank spend so much time with his right-hand man Doug Stamper in the Capitol that we can’t imagine not visiting The Hill. There are plenty of tours you can take where all the wheeling and dealing goes down. You can sign up to take a tour of Congressman or Senator’s offices, or one of the entire Capitol itself.

They cross off every name, as they attempt to build up to Underwood becoming the Vice President. The 2016 presidential election was an unusual one, where neither Conway or Underwood garnered the necessary 270 electoral votes to win, since the states of Ohio and Tennessee refused to certify the results. The two states called for a second round in 2017, leading to Underwood's victory. In Doug's mind, he killed Frank "to protect the legacy from the man" and stop his boss from tarnishing everything Frank had accomplished before he resigned.

According to series producer Beau Willimon, the change in last name stemmed from the "Dickensian" feeling and "more legitimately American" sounding resonance of the name 'Underwood'. Whereas Urquhart is an aristocrat by birth, Underwood is a self-made man, having been born into a poor Southern family with an alcoholic father. Urquhart was one of television's first antiheroes, whereas Underwood follows the more recent rash of antiheroes that includes Tony Soprano of The Sopranos, Walter White of Breaking Bad, and Dexter Morgan of Dexter. However, unlike most other antiheroes, Underwood is not forced into immorality either by circumstance (White), birth (Soprano) or upbringing (Morgan). Unlike the right wing Urquhart, who leads the Conservative Party, Underwood is a member of the Democratic Party, but cares little for ideology in favor of "ruthless pragmatism" in furthering his own political influence and power. Spacey has received positive reviews for his portrayal of Underwood, but the character itself has been criticized for its repetitive nature and one-dimensionality.

Knowing that he was unhappy, and very eager to feel important once more, as well as having freed up a space for Governor, Underwood suggests the Vice President as Governor. Heartily agree, a decision further amounted to, because of an evident dislike for one another. Underwood ensures they are both aware of this mutual dislike, by mentioning their comments told in confidence to him, to the other. As the V.P. Campaigns for the certain victory, Underwood and White House Chief of Staff, Linda Vasquez, create a fake list of Vice Presidential nominees. The nominees are incompetent and definitely not appropriate. This leads the President to become desperate and be ready to say yes to anything.

In House of Cards, Kevin Spacey plays Frank Underwood, a politician who climbs to power using ruthless manipulation. When Frank refuses to reinstate Doug as his Chief of Staff, Doug appears to switch sides and begins working for Dunbar. Gavin helps Doug track down Rachel and delivers findings purporting that she is dead, causing Doug to suffer a relapse. When Gavin reveals that Rachel is really alive, Doug brutalizes him into divulging her location.

The day after Underwood's Iowa victory, Claire says that she is leaving Underwood, and flies to Texas to stay with her mother. Underwood, while in New Hampshire, continues his campaign under much stress without Claire. She pulls a piece of the broken mirror and stabs Underwood in the gut.

She eventually leaves the Herald due to a conflict with her superior and joins Slugline. She finally teams up with Skorsky after both had left the Herald; despite their professional competition, they respect each other's work ethic and have the same goals in mind. Both end up at Slugline and together they unearth the hidden details regarding Russo's DUI cover-up and his death. Underwood was first elected to public office in 1984 at the age of 25 as a member for the South Carolina State Senate, as one of the youngest state legislators in state history. Underwood attended military college at "The Sentinel", based on The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He began attending the academy just after Jimmy Carter had been elected president in 1976.

In his senior year, his grades suffered when he volunteered for a U.S. Senate campaign in the fall 1980 and was nearly expelled from the military college. Despite his poor grades, Underwood was accepted and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1984. He had a sexual and romantic relationship while in military college with another cadet, Tim Corbet. His father was a peach farmer in Gaffney, South Carolina, who died of a heart attack at the age of 43. Underwood has stated that he and his father had nothing in common whatsoever, and upon his father's death, he felt neither regret nor remorse.

Worth It? Complete Guide to MSC Cruises Drink Packages

Nude cruises don’t typically sail to Alaska — for obvious reasons. It’s going to be hot and there are likely parts of your body that will not have seen so much sun. The first two items on your packing list should be a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen — lots of it. Sunscreen can be very expensive to buy on board, so pack more than you think you will need. Castaways Travel is another company that appears to offer nude cruises, however, they also fall under the umbrella of lifestyle swinger cruises and are therefore more sexually orientated.

If others happen to be in your line of sight, a simple word to them usually puts their mind at rest. There are “No Photo” zones on the ship (the pool and nightclub are examples) where photography is verboten. Bring an open mind, try new foods and experiences (I tried nude yoga on deck every morning and learned how to make a toga out of my bedsheet), listen and engage. As hundreds of prior travelers have already proven, you will enjoy the experience so much, you’ll be coming back for more. You also don’t have to be nude all the time if you don’t want to be, there will usually be designated “clothing optional” areas where you can choose to cover up if you prefer. Give yourself time, if you are a little uncomfortable to start with then that’s perfectly normal.

If you’re trying to keep your diet in check, the Temptation Cruise offers a full, air-conditioned fitness center. It’s a great place to get your exercise in before the day’s activities, and it will help you make healthier menu choices later. Plus, a 20-minute workout in the morning makes it easier to say no to dessert. The ship is a state-of-the-art, 2,148-guest cruise ship from Original Group.

What is the cruise speed of a Cessna 182 Skylane

The hardware is stronger than previous Garmin avionics and has additional features that improve situational awareness for pilots during flight. Initially, it can be easy to get lost in the new age of digital readings, so pilots that are unfamiliar may want to take some time to get to know the cockpit before takeoff. You’ve got a Lycoming IO-540-AB1A5 engine, producing up to 230hp, and a three-blade McCauley constant speed heated prop. If you’re looking for a bigger airplane to work with while sticking to a single piston, this engine and prop make a Skylane worth considering. You have restricted visibility above you which is a tradeoff for added visibility below. While these work well on a good day, they have developed a bad reputation in terms of reliability in Cessna aircraft, particularly due to overheating issues.

The Cessna 182 is a single-engine piston plane, great for both training and seasoned pilots. Like its big brother, the Cessna 210, the Turbo Skylane RG didn’t use gear doors. Early 210s did employ doors, but the sequencing mechanism was more trouble than it was worth, causing a number of accidents.

Performance

It rides much lighter on the gear than a fixed-gear 182 because of the nose-up attitude so crosswinds are trickier. We have climbed at over 500 FPM at 10,000 feet with four people and usually at 120 knots. I had the airplane painted using a paint scheme from Scheme Designers and a new interior installed in 2002. Where is the zero lift drag coefficient, is a constant and represents the lift dependent drag. Sometimes people (incorrectly) refer to the first part as the “profile drag” and the second part as the “induced drag” or “vortex drag.” This heuristic is overly simplistic. The second term, in fact, contains both induced and profile drag.

One quirk of the R182 that I think also applies to the 210 is that exhaust enters the cabin in flight unless the cabin is kept at positive pressure by opening either the heater or the outside air intake. Another contributor to this potential problem is that, with the mixture knob all the way in, the engine is running too rich. Aside from the switch from bladders after 1978, Cessna made only minor changes in the airplane through its eight-year run. The alternator and over-voltage sensor were swapped for an alternator control unit and the high-voltage warning light was switched to a low-voltage light in 1979. Please don’t jam the throttle to the firewall at the start of your takeoff run—especially if you’re taking off from a long runway.

But if you’re looking for cost efficiency and don’t mind that it’s a bit less powerful, the 172 is an easy choice. Maintenance, however, is typically more affordable and can offset some of the purchase cost when compared to similar aircraft. Since it’s a smaller plane you can rent a hanger for a relatively low price, and a Skylane in good shape (and being flown properly) isn’t likely to need a lot of frequent repairs. They’re durable and reliable, often going two or more annuals without any issues. The Cessna 182 was first built in 1956 as an evolution from the Cessna 180 taildragger with a tri-gear design and some changes to the exhaust and fuel vent systems.

Thirty years after its official demise, pilots still love the Cessna Skylane RG, normally aspirated or turbo.

They switched out the Lycoming O-470 for a Lycoming IO-40-AB1A5 which is a fuel-injected engine and resolved some issues with the O-470 related to carb icing. The interior was revamped with anti-corrosion materials and painted metal instrument panels. Cessna had made their seats more crashworthy and improved the fuel drains as required by the FAA due to issues causing water leaks.

The instrument panel adopted the new industry standard basic-T shape, and the horizontal stabilizer was increased by 10 inches to improve low-speed elevator response. Instead of incremental flap positioning, the 182F had preset positions. Since production was restarted in 2015, Textron has been offering newly-built Cessna 182 models for $ with the standard kit fitted.

In terms of landing characteristics, the two aircraft are very similar, with their landing and take-off lengths only being (at most) a 50 ft-100 ft difference. Even though this may seem small this can be the difference of landing or a detour. Since their debut in 1956, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk and its bigger brother, the 182 Skylane, have constantly competed. Both aircraft have an all-metal construction and share the same high-wing, four-seat, piston aircraft and have many features in common.

The Cessna 172 seats 4, three passengers, and at minimum one crew. 27ft in (8.28 m) length, with a wingspan of about 36 ft (11.00 m), this makes for a pretty sizeable footprint. The aircraft has a height of 8 ft 11 in (2.72 m), which can really be felt when refueling. However, the aircraft has feet holds on each strut enabling easy access to the top wing-mounted fuel tanks. We have gathered fuel economy data about the 182 directly from Cessna technical data sheets. They have built dozens of different 182 models, all with similar fuel burn and engine designs, making it easy to track how well these planes manage long-distance flying.

It isn’t the best at really anything, but it is a well-rounded and reliable go-to for tons of aviators regardless of experience. It’s a great hobby aircraft, while also maintaining a great reputation for training and other utilities. One maintenance complaint, which is actually quite simple, is that the external baggage latch tends to break. While it is easily replaced, Cessna doesn’t sell just the spring which is usually the problem.

Often times you will find both the 172 and the 182 fitted with similar cockpit avionics. However, we find there are more 182s on the market with newer technological advancements such as the G1000 outfit. The Cessna 172 can often be found with the more traditional steam gauge cockpit. Depending on your price parameters and comfort level, an equivalent 172 with a steam gauge cockpit may run you much cheaper with initial costs and maintenance cost versus a 182 with the same. This may be a consideration depending on your comfort level with newer avionics. If you are looking to buy an aircraft you are probably planning to fly longer trips.

(801 mi, 1,289 km) with 45-minute reserve, 55% power, at 12,000 ft. Incredibly, the aircraft has a service ceiling of 13,500 ft which is the upper limits of class E airspace. If you are looking to purchase the Cessna 172 or rent you should be glad to know that it is one of the most capable 4-seater aircraft available on the market.

The external wing struts can cause some drag, and because the fuel tanks are in the wings, you will probably need a ladder to refuel. These aircraft are powerful and versatile while maintaining reliability and accessibility to a range of pilots and flight missions. A Cessna 182 Skylane can get you where you need to go and get you there comfortably. But that’s not to say that they don’t have their own set of faults or trade-offs. Max rpm for both climb and cruise was set a neighborly 2400 rpm, relegating use of the prop control to the ramp.

Owner FeedbackI bought N79MR, a 1979 TR182, in 1998 with 4500 hours. It now has 5300 hours and 450 SMOH, which included new Millennium cylinders and new three-blade prop. Shimmy damper problems have plagued the RG but do not stand out in the most recent SDRs. A Cessna service bulletin (80-67) was aimed at correcting the problem with a mod kit and it appears to have been successful. The wing root ventilators were redesigned in 1980, but they are known for getting loose with age, spraying water into the cockpit in rain and popping open all by themselves. Skylane windshields also tend to leak and the R/TR182 is no exception.
